Matthew 4:1-11
Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.
Observation:
Jesus used the word of God when Satan tempted him. Each attack Jesus used the word to rebuke the devil. Jesus’ victory over temptation qualified Him to be our Savior; His example teaches us how to engage in spiritual warfare. Jesus was God in human form, He could have said anything to get rid of Satan but He chose to use the word of God as an example to us that we can defeat the enemy by properly applying the word of God in our situations. Three times He said "It is written," then He said "Away with you Satan." I believe this is our model to defeat the enemy when we are tempted.
Application:
The word of God is our weapon to fight against temptations that come into our lives. We can only use it when we read and understand what it means. When temptation comes into our lives use the word to combat the enemy. Jesus already defeated our enemy all we have to do is walk in the power and authority that was already given to us and fight the battle using our only offensive weapon The Bible.
Prayer:
Father, please help us to use the word as a weapon when we’re tempted to disobey or get into things that we shouldn’t be involved in. Give us the wisdom and discernment to recall and use your word to fight the enemy’s attack. Teach us to read the word of God daily and practice using it everyday so we’ll be ready when temptation comes. We pray this in Jesus name Amen!

I was reminded in this message of how the devil can also use the word of God as a weapon against us to try to deceive us into testing God. We must stay vigilant and remember Jesus' response. "It is also written: 'Do not put the Lord your God to the test."
