Mathew 5:33-48
SCRIPTURE
Jesus continues to teach us to live as subjects in God’s kingdom.
OBSERVATION
Jesus continues to open our eyes to our true position in God’s kingdom: A Royal Priesthood. These passages outline that we are to live and behave as kingdom citizens. We honor God and exhibit His excellent character when we keep our word, do not take vengeance in our hands, give graciously to those who ask and live at peace with others even when we are treated harshly. We are to treat others as God treats us. God permits his goodness to flow to those that are unjust, He permits His love to flow to those that are unrighteous; and we are to do the same.
APPLICATION
In order for me to reflect God’s kingdom I must live and treat others as graciously as God treats me. It is impossible for me to live as a citizen of God’s kingdom without the Holy Spirit. In order for me not to become entangled with the world’s system of handing my challenges, I must remember that I am a citizen of God’s kingdom and His power resides in me.
PRAYER
Lord, your loving kindness and mercy towards us are evident throughout your Word. Jesus, your sacrifice has opened the door to God’s kingdom and you have shown us how to live an abundant and blessed life; we will be forever grateful to you. Thank you for showing us the Way and thank you for leaving us a helper in the Holy Spirt. Let your grace be evident in all we do and say. In Jesus’ name, AMEN!

Yes, right! I agree that you said, "It is impossible for me to live as a citizen of God's kingdom without the Holy Spirit." I remind that The Bible says "You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses"(Act 1:8).
All my efforts to avoid sin and do good through my own strength and abilities inevitably fail. I confess that victory over the temptation of sin and the ability to do good comes only through relying on the work of Jesus on this earth and the power of the Holy Spirit to accompany me.
Thank you!
