Learning, Living, and Sharing the Good News of Jesus
Calvary Church is a multicultural, multi-ethnic Christian community that meets in Wyncote, PA.
We are committed to learn more about Jesus, live out our faith in Jesus, and share the Good News about Jesus. We hope you will feel right at home as you worship with us!
What to expect
Our worship services are contemporary. The worship team has a lead singer, backup singers, and a band with guitars, keyboards, and drums. Other instruments can also be added to the mix. We don’t use hymnals, but we sometimes do sing hymns. All lyrics are projected onto screens at the front of the church.
On holidays and special occasions our services may include a choir, instrumental solos, dance, poetry, or other artistic expressions of worship.
Singing and worship is followed by brief announcements and prayer, a time for greeting, and then a 30- to 45-minute message.
We celebrate communion on the first Sunday of each month. You don’t have to be a member to take part.
Dress down, not up
Dress is mostly business casual. You’ll see jeans and t-shirts, colorful dresses, and a handful of suits and ties.
Sunday for kids
Children from birth to 12 years old are welcome to participate in our fun (and safe!) Calvary Kids Ministry during each service. You’ll find the Calvary check-in station in the foyer. All children must be registered. (You can even register in advance.) Each child is given a name sticker. You will get a matching sticker that you must present to pick your child when the service ends.
Calvary Kids check-in opens 15 minutes before each service and closes 15 minutes after the service has begun. If you arrive after 9:15 or 11:15 am, you can take your children into the sanctuary with you.
Our large nursery on the lower level is staffed with experienced volunteers. This large room has a rocking chair, a changing table, and plenty of age-appropriate toys for little ones who are crawling and beginning to walk. It includes a live video feed of the service.
You are also welcome to use our mother and baby room on the main floor. This small, private room is equipped with comfortable rockers, a changing table, and a live video feed of the service.
Family Sundays are held in the months that have five Sundays. On these fifth Sundays, children join their families in the sanctuary for the entire service. The nursery remains open for parents to use. Both the children and youth participate in the service by sharing music, drama, memory verses, and more.
The sermon is planned to be accessible to listeners of most ages. Quiet activities may be provided for younger children to use as they sit with their families.
After the service
After the service, please stop at the Welcome Center in the foyer for a hot cup of coffee and a snack. We’re looking forward to meeting you!
