End of August newsletter

by Pastor Randy

On August 27th, I concluded our Sunday series of messages on the subject of drawing near to God with a message from Psalm 57. I encourage those of you to watch the message online. Prayer is the natural response of those who recognize they need God and believe that God is willing and able to meet our needs. It is also the natural response of those who love God (Psalm 63:1) In August we also concluded our 21-day season of drawing near to God in prayer. It has been great to see so many wearing the Pray First wristbands which were created for us by Rapid Wristbands. I was especially […]

Reflections on the Celebrated King

by Pastor Randy

What an awesome time we had Sunday celebrating our great Savior-King, Jesus! I pray that you, and I, will remain constantly aware of His greatness so that He will forever be the supreme object of our worship! There is no other king like Jesus and there is no other king but Jesus! In preparation for this coming weekend, when we turn our attention to Jesus, our crucified king (Good Friday) and Jesus, our conquering king (Easter), consider how we have become the benefactors of the perfect love and justice of God displayed through the cross of Christ. In this passage we have the solution to one of the most vexing questions […]

21 Days of John: Chapter 9

by Pastor Randy

By Pastor Randy Chapter 9 begins with a conversation between Jesus and his disciples centered around a man who was blind since birth. Jesus corrected their warped theology that led them to conclude that his blindness was a punishment for his sin or the sin of his parents. Notice that Jesus’ response redirected the disciples’ attention away from the CAUSE of the blindness and towards the CURE. After being healed of his blindness by Jesus, the no-longer-blind man was taken to the Pharisees, a group of religious leaders who were considered authorities on religious matters. A debate ensued among them concerning Jesus’ conduct. It was the Sabbath when Jesus healed […]

21 Days in John: Chapter 6

by Pastor Randy

By Pastor Randy John chapter 6 records Jesus’ miracle whereby He fed over 5,000 people from five loaves of bread and two fish, but it is the conversation that ensued between Jesus and those he fed that demands our attention.  Following this miracle, the people whose stomach’s Jesus filled wanted to make Him King! After all, who wouldn’t want a king that can provide for all our needs without us needing to work? The next day they came looking for Jesus, but when they found him Jesus called them out for their corrupt motivation; their interest in Jesus was based on His ability to meet their wants and desires. Jesus […]

Day 6: Finances

by Pastor Randy

We often take God’s provision for granted and fail to express gratitude, so begin today by giving thanks to God for all the material blessings that you enjoy. It has been said that a good way to assess our priorities is to take a look at our calendar and checkbook.  Jesus taught his disciples to live for those things that will matter in eternity. God’s word constantly reminds us of the need to view life from a “long-term” or “eternal” perspective. Money can either become our master or it can be a tool that we use to serve God, our true Master. Ask God for wisdom so you will manage […]

Day 3: Commitment

by Pastor Randy

God is looking for those “whose hearts are fully committed to Him”.  Jesus taught His disciples that following Him would require them to “deny themselves and take up their cross.” A genuine love for God will manifest itself in commitment to Him and His kingdom.  This does not negate the truth that we are saved by God’s grace apart from our works. It does remind us that God’s grace provides not only forgiveness, but also the person of the Holy Spirit who empowers us to put our faith and love into action.  As you spend time in prayer today, ask the Holy Spirit to give you the strength to make […]

Day 2: A Revelation of God’s Love

by Pastor Randy

The prayers that we find recorded in the inspired scriptures of the NT reveal what ought to be our prayer priorities.  Today as you spend time in prayer ask God: To fill you with the strength that comes from the Holy Spirit. In Acts 1:8 Jesus told His disciples that they would receive power when they were filled with the Holy Spirit. To be full of the Spirit is to be full of God’s power. To give you a greater understanding and experience of His love. Paul’s desire for the Ephesian Christians was that they would be “filled with all the fullness of God.” This is another way of speaking […]

Day 1: Spiritual Insight

by Pastor Randy

As Paul began his letter to the Christians in the city of Ephesus he wrote that he prayed constantly for God to give them the Spirit of wisdom and revelation. That wisdom and revelation which they needed is exactly what you and I need; an understanding of who God is, what He has done for us, and who we are in relation to Him. As we gain a clear understanding of God, we will begin to understand the hope that belongs to us as His children. We will also understand how precious we are to Him. The phrase, “the riches of His glorious inheritance in the saints” refers to the […]
